How do I know if a tick has been properly removed?

A tick is properly removed if:

  • You have no leftover tick in the skin.
  • You did not crush the tick with the tick nippers or with your nails.
  • You did not remove the tick using alcohol or fire.
  • You removed the tick within 24 hours.

Is it bad if part of the tick remains in the skin?

No, it's not a big deal. The remains of the tick will come out of the skin on its own after a few days, like a splinter. By killing the tick and removing the body, you prevent the leech from transmitting diseases. Always disinfect the bite site with a disinfectant. Do this only after removing the tick.

What symptoms should I look out for after removing a tick?

After removing a tick, always note the date and spot the tick bite. Keep a close eye on the spot for several weeks. Does discolouration or redness appear around the bite spot? If so, contact your GP. Also get in touch as soon as you develop flu-like symptoms, reduced strength, radiating pain or joint complaints.

Are the tick forceps BIO Ticks-2-Go also suitable for my dog or cat?

The Care Plus® tick forceps Ticks-2-Go are also suitable for removing ticks from pets. Use the forceps in the same way as for humans. Caution! Other insect repellents such as Care Plus® Anti-Tick are not suitable for your pet. Consult your vet for a suitable tick repellent for pets.
