medihemp new packaging
At October 2021 packaging has been changed. To clearly indicate that the entire 100% range is quality natural products, all packaging now clearly states 'Natural'. Previously, this was marked 'Bio'. This is due to the fact that the status of CBD oil has changed in the Netherlands. CBD oil is no longer allowed to be certified organic, as it is not considered a food product. The certifying organisation in the Netherlands (SKAL) has therefore decided that CBD oil therefore does not comply with the EU organic regulation. Up to the Dutch borders, it is still sold as certified organic CBD oil.
The quality remains the same
So it is all about the rules va the law, the quality of the CBD oil products obviously remains unchanged. The brand still uses the same raw materials produced according to the standards and guidelines of the Certificate Austria Bio Garantie GmbH, the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) and the AGES (Austrian Food Safety Agency).
Earlier, the brand changed its packaging. In October 2018 the brand has started a gradual transition to new packaging, eventually switching completely to the beautiful new house style. All products will feature the new label and box. The new fresh look sets it apart from other brands within the CBD market.
The packaging of the CBD oil Pure now has a fresh green colour, the CBD oil Raw is recognisable by the typical dark green packaging. There is also the CBG oil which is recognisable by the brown colour box and label.
Improved composition
The quality has been further optimised through improved composition. To obtain a better extract, the waxes are nowadays removed. This has the advantage that less CBD is needed for a better quality CBD oil. As a result, the recipe has also undergone a slight change, for instance, the ratio of hemp seed oil to CBD extract has changed slightly. This is only positive, the recipe is now many times better than before.
Controlled quality
All of Medihemp's nutritional products such as hemp tea, CBG tea, Hatcha and protein powder are certified organic and meet strict requirements. Sales, production and export are conducted according to: Austria Bio Garantie GmbH, AT BIO-301, FN 78753p, 2202 Enzersfeld Austria. Holding organic certification ensures that Medihemp is distinctive when it comes to selling hemp products. It is a high-quality brand that ensures assurance through strict controls on raw materials used and production methods. The CBD oil also complies with the Austria Bio Garantie GmbH.
The process of analysing
Not only the final product is tested, in the entire process from seed to final product, there are test moments for verification. For instance, the seeds are tested for: CBD/CBDa, THC/THCa, heavy metals, pesticides, acidity (PH), peroxide content, aflatoxins, microbiology (enterobacteriaceae, fungi, salmonella, suphitereductin clostridia), moisture content, density, non-soluble impurities in the oil and free fatty acids. As the plants grow, the CBD/CBDa and THC/THCa percentage are measured. Just before harvest, the same test is done again to measure the percentages of cannabinoids in the plants.
The dried plant material is then tested again for the CBD/CBDa and THC/THCa concentrations as well as for heavy metals, pesticides, acidity, peroxide content, aflatoxins, microbiology (enterobacteriaceae, fungi, salmonella, suphitereductin clostridia), moisture content, density, non-soluble impurities in the oil and free fatty acids.
After extraction, the same points are tested again and also once more when the product is completely ready to be bottled.
At the time of writing, the company has just moved to a state-of-the-art and much larger site. This immediately incorporated the IFS Food and ICCI quality standards. The IFS Food Standard is a GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) recognised standard for auditing food manufacturers. Its main focus is on food safety and the quality of processes and products.
To ensure quality and product safety within the hemp industry, Medihemp participates in several initiatives. For example, the Patient Focused Certification (PFC) Programme was created by the Americans for Safe Access Foundation. This programme champions the interests of consumers and healthcare providers to provide high-quality medicinal cannabis products and services.
medihemp first european brand approved by EFSA
As the first CBD brand in Europe, Medihemp CBD oil is approved by the EFSA - the European Food Safety Authority. To comply with EFSA guidelines, Medihemp was among the first in Europe to adjust the recommended dosage.
recommended dosage
Some will have already noticed, the daily recommended dose has been adjusted on the packaging. This adjustment is now in line with EFSA guidelines. The new guideline recommends a daily consumption of 1μg THC per kg body weight for a safe dosage. This has changed the daily dosage stated on the packaging and bottle.
The leaflet found in the box of CBD oil also refers to the recommended dosage. Here, of course, it is described that the dosage may be built up to the desired level. Nothing has changed in this sense, it remains a personal matter to find the right dosage. The dosage used before obtaining this seal of approval can simply be adhered to. The originally Austrian company now holds an official EFSA handling certificate. This certificate guarantees that with the recommended doses on their packaging, Medihemp meets all requirements.
The power of a craft
The family company Medihemp was born a few years ago out of the founders' desire to use all the goodness of Mother Nature to live more pleasantly. They wanted to be less dependent on modern (chemical) drugs, but still be able to fight all kinds of ailments.
The power of hemp had long been known and in sunny Austria (Burgerland), the first 15 ha of hemp were planted among the characteristic grape vines. Not knowing that the pure CBD oil products would be so successful. A lot has happened over the years, including the introduction of CBD oil capsules and CBG oil. Meanwhile, more than 400 ha are planted with hemp and the end of the growth is not yet in sight.
Medihemp uses its own harvest in more ways than you might think. The organic hemp seed oil in which the CBD extract is dissolved is lovingly made by Medihemp itself. Even the insulation material in the building where the company is located is made from hemp from its own harvest.
Standards
When growing and harvesting Medihemp's fibre hemp, chemicals such as fertilisers, pesticides, antibiotics or artificial additives are never used. The products are not genetically modified and Gamma radiation is also avoided. The quality brand is known to have strict controls on clean agricultural land. For instance, the land must have been free of chemicals for at least 3 years before used by Medihemp for hemp cultivation.
A high-quality standard is not just any old thing. For a start, inspections are held regularly. Organic and non-organic products are also separated throughout the process. Medihemp goes much further by using special harvesting machines only for the organic fields and extraction machines only for the organic plant material. Machines are thoroughly cleaned before being deployed and the organic end product is stored separately.
Analyses CBD oil
The oil production process is closely monitored. A large amount of laboratory testing ensures that the company knows exactly what goes into the process in order to adjust it if necessary and deliver a consistent product. Medihemp also commissions several independent laboratories to conduct tests. Only when these and Medihemp's own results match, do they proceed with production.
Quality control
MediHemp values the quality of its products. To ensure the best quality CBD oil meets the high standards, MediHemp checks every Charge for the presence of more than 200 different substances. The CBD oil products have all the necessary certificates (Austria Bio Garantie GmbH) and are produced according to the guidelines of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Austrian Food Safety Agency (AGES).
